In your home, by appointment

Home support and parent coaching

Two different things, and families usually ask about them in the same breath. One brings the teaching to your table. The other teaches you to run it yourself.

Two services

Which of these you need is not always the obvious one.

Home dyslexia support

One to one, in your own home, by appointment.

The same structured teaching we do at the centre, brought to your table. For families where travel is the obstacle — distance, work patterns, a younger sibling, a child for whom one more transition in the day is one too many.

  • Appointment-only, arranged around your week
  • Structured literacy throughout, exactly as at the centre
  • The same written session record you would get anywhere else

FeeArranged individually — contact us. Travel charge RM15 under 10 km, RM30 for 10 km or more.

Parent home coaching

We teach you, so the practice keeps happening between sessions.

Not a lesson for your child — a working session for you. You are shown precisely what to do, how to correct without turning it into a row, and what to do on the evening it falls apart. Most families get more out of this than they expect.

  • What to practise, and what to leave alone
  • How to correct a misread word without deflating a child
  • A short routine that fits a real evening, not an ideal one

FeeArranged individually — contact us. Travel charge RM15 under 10 km, RM30 for 10 km or more.

Fit

When coming to you is the better answer.

This usually suits a family where

  • Travel to the centre is the thing standing in the way
  • Your child copes far better in a familiar room
  • You want to be able to carry the work on yourself between sessions
  • Timetables at the centre do not line up with your week

We’d suggest the centre when

  • Your child would benefit from working alongside others — that is the group's job
  • Home is where the reading battles happen, and a neutral room would help more
  • You are outside the area we can reliably reach

Where we can reach. We cover Johor Bahru, Kulai, Gelang Patah, Medini, Skudai, Austin, Taman Daya, Ulu Tiram, Masai and Permas Jaya. Home visits are currently fully booked, so each new request is reviewed case by case — tell us your area and we will be straight with you about what is possible, including whether parent coaching on its own would help in the meantime. A travel charge applies: RM15 for distances under 10 km, and RM30 for 10 km or more.

Practicalities

What a session needs from the house.

Not much, and none of it is about how tidy anywhere is. It is about the hour being genuinely protected.

  • A table and two chairs, away from a television

  • An hour when the household can leave the room alone

  • A parent in the house, but not in the session unless invited

  • Somewhere the same each time, if that is possible

Together

These combine with everything else we do.

What we recommend comes out of the assessment, not out of a package — and for many families the useful pairing is centre sessions with coaching alongside.

Small-group intervention

Up to five matched learners at the centre. Our primary programme, and where most children make their fastest gains.

Individual intervention

One to one at the centre, for a child whose profile means a group would hold them back or be held back by them.

Assessment

Where everything starts. It decides which of these is right, including when the answer is none of them.

Questions parents ask

About working at home.

Is home support the same teaching as the centre?

Yes. The method does not change with the room — structured literacy, one concept at a time, practised to automatic and applied in real text. What changes is that we come to you.

Do I have to sit in?

Not for home support — most children work better without an audience, and we will tell you afterwards what we covered. Parent coaching is the opposite: you are the point of it.

Which areas do you cover?

Johor Bahru, Kulai, Gelang Patah, Medini, Skudai, Austin, Taman Daya, Ulu Tiram, Masai and Permas Jaya. Home visits are currently fully booked, so new requests are reviewed case by case. A travel charge of RM15 applies for distances under 10 km, and RM30 for 10 km or more.

Can we combine home support with sessions at the centre?

Yes, and some families do — most often centre sessions with parent coaching alongside, so the structure carries into the week. What we recommend comes out of the assessment rather than out of a package.

Is parent coaching only for families already with True Dream?

No. Some families come for coaching alone, because what they need is not another appointment in the week but to know what they should be doing on the evenings between them.

If we cannot reach you, we will say so — and tell you whether parent coaching on its own would still be worth having.
